Thermals
are vertical wind columns. They move by and with the horizontal wind. Each column of warm air rises to the altitude of temperature
inversion. A thermal is initiated by a heat source on the ground and starts to rise when released by wind turbulence. Energy
to move the air and its contents, (birds and sailplanes), is provided by the warm air being cooled, called Enthalpy. In
some locations, "Thermal Farms" may be more efficient than Wind Farms. Plans for a Thermal Farm and
test procedures are being developed. For more information contact the author of this site.
